Dock Street will become the new, direct entrance from the centre to the harbour. Dock Street will have an intimate character that will be in harmony with that of the city centre. The connection with the centre is in a straight line, so that walking distances to the centre are short. Dock Street crosses the railway tracks and crosses the new lock by means of
a striking drawbridge. Along Dock Street are restaurants, the harbour office, shops and other services facing the harbour. These services are mostly contained within the new Warehouse between the Outer Harbour and the Dock. The lighthouse with seafood restaurant is situated at the end of Dock Street. This lighthouse forms the main focal point of the harbour, both from the city centre as well as from the Firth of Forth.
